LineLine Canon San Francisco - Creating Bokeh Portraits

Creating portraits with a beautiful bokeh effect can be great for your portfolio but tricky to do well. Join photographer Laura Tillinghast as she shares her techniques for creating stunning bokeh portraits with a live model. 

This fun class will cover working with natural light on-location as well as shooting in-studio. During the workshop, you will have the opportunity to try Canon’s newest and fastest portrait lenses. 

Laura will also share her tips for making her subjects comfortable in front of a camera while coaxing natural poses and expressions. Bring your camera for a chance to shoot during the class.

LineLine Canon San Francisco - Photographing Flowers Photo Walk at Filoli Gardens

Flowers are a perfect subject for photography but can be tricky to capture.. On this Workshop, photographer Laura Tillinghast will help you to create stunning flower images with just a few simple tools. 

Laura will cover how she approaches lighting as well as techniques for using off-camera flash. She will share her tips for working with macro lenses and how to nail focus when using a very shallow depth-of-field. The class will also cover how to mimic popular styles for “flower portraits” such as Sakura and achieving a painterly feel.

San Jose Camera & Video Creative Portrait Series: Fine Art Portraiture

Strong portraits make the viewer stop and take a longer look. In an era where we are bombarded with imagery all the time, it’s difficult to stand out from the crowd. In this workshop you will learn not only the fundamentals of portrait lighting, but also how to add that extra something to make a strong visual impact. 


Laura Tillinghast, instructor & professional photographer, has developed a strategy to create these dynamic portraits and she will share those techniques with you. Laura will share her tips for making her subjects comfortable in front of a camera as well as how to get the best poses and expressions. Learn how to tell a story with your images with creative themes. She will show you how to finish the job with some post production tips

and tricks.


Light snacks and drinks will be provided. You are welcome to bring a lunch or snack with you.
